About Emmylou
Emmylou is an Anishinabek from the North shore of Lake Huron. She has a diploma in massage therapy from the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy in Halifax, and a diploma in Osteopathic Manual Practice from the Canadian College of Osteopathy. Her studies continue in the field of somatic therapy (2nd year), specialized movement practice through Ido Portal, and human dissection courses through Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario.
Emmylou studied Osteopathy in Halifax for 6 years at the Collège d’Études Ostéopathiques. Her final research project explored how osteopathic treatment on chronic aura migraines can have a lasting positive impact on those that suffer. She spent five years working at Watershed Wellness in Halifax under Shawn Selfridge, and another two years at the Kingsport Osteopathic Clinic under Sarah Hayes.
Emmylou is a member in good standing with the Nova Scotia Association of Osteopaths (NSAO).
Wiingashk is the Ojibwe word for the medicinal plant known in English as sweetgrass. Often found in saltwater marshes, strands of this potent fibre are woven together into a braid representing the intertwining of mind, body and spirit. Wiingashk reminds us that our personal healing is more than work on just one strand, but interconnected work on all three. Our approach, guided by Wiingashk and the Earth on which she grows, aims to support you in forging those connections.
Testimonials
AJ
Emmylou’s passion and amazement for the anatomy of the body, and her care and empathy for her patients, really shines through her work. While her healing hands do their magic, I always feel validated in my experience and welcomed in my vulnerability and strengths. I deeply feel her trust in my ability to heal and that supports my own healing journey.

Emmylou’s osteopathic therapy sessions are marked by her kindness, humour, and expertise, all of which she brings to every visit. She is highly skilled in her field, but equally important; she has a special ability to make everyone feel comfortable and at ease. Emmylou’s sessions address physical and mental health, promoting a holistic approach to therapy. I always feel lighter when I leave the room!

Emmylou is a thoughtful and effective practitioner who approaches treatment with care, compassion, and intuition. One of the issues I presented with has plagued me for years, despite other treatment modalities. Osteopathic treatment from Emmylou in-clinic, as well as suggestions and demonstrations of exercises to continue with at home, have provided a new level of relief to a years-long shoulder issue.
